My wife is starting a small business of the hobby type. She plans to make items, and sell them at local craft shows. I'd like to track her inventory and finished products. What software could I use on my Mac to do this? Ideally it should have a photo for each product. I have File Maker Pro for my PC, and I don't like it - is there something else? Does QuickBooks have features to keep photos of inventory?

Here's some thoughts for you:
FileMaker is really powerful, flexible, and would be what I used for the job. However, if you don't like it or would have to buy it for the Mac then that changes things. You could consider using the database module of AppleWorks for the job if you already have it. It is similar to FileMaker in setup, but is a bit easier to understand. However, it is slow, not nearly as powerful and can be frustrating to do simple things. Another option would be to use iPhoto- you could setup an album for her projects and use the info field and keyword functions to do some pretty powerful database tasks.
Pros/Cons:
FileMaker: Powerful/not what you want to use
AppleWorks: Easy/not powerful, slow when using slightly larger databases (more than 10 MB)
iPhoto: perfect for picture catalog/cannot perform inventory tasks like sales totals or other calculations
Hope this helps!

How about using Delicious Library? That way, you can catalogue everything in pictures!

Yes, I know I could buy a PC, but why?

Go to VersionTracker.com and do a search for "inventory". You'll get a lot of potential solutions to your question.

Delicious Library is fine if you use it as it was intended- books, movies, games, CD's. However, it does not translate well to other media IMO and it also doesn't have a reliable meta-data search. It is a fantastic program and deserves to be used as intended- otherwise it will just frustrate you...
Just my thoughts
