You know the stuff MS has, if the image is bigger than the actual browser window it adjusts itself, and i would have to click on it to get the original size.
Is this possible in Safari?

No. I don't know if it would be possible with a plugin but I'm not aware of any. Firefox has this feature though.

The QuickTime plugin scales images. It might be possible to set it as the file handler for images.

not exactly what you're looking for but safari stand lets you scale images by simply pressing the minus/plus keys (-/+), no need to hold shift while pressing those keys either. you can scale larger or smaller, this plug-in is also free. it does a few other quite useful things as well
look for it on macupdate.com
