There were once four people named Everybody, Somebody, Nobody and Anybody. Somebody had to do a job, but Nobody wanted to do it. Nobody could see that Anybody could do it, and Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job. Nobody ended up doing it, and it so happened that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

It doesn't matter at all what drive you have for using iMovie - you can export your films in a number of formats and using various compression routines so you can fit it on any media you like (look at the File>Share options).

It is iDVD where you once needed to have a DVD burner in your computer - however, you can now produce a disk image directly from iDVD so you can send it to another computer with a burner or use an external one to burn that image.
