Hey,
I'm trying to burn dvd movies. I ripped the movies with "Hand Brake" into a .mp4 then I try to burn it and it does one of three things. 1. It burns the movie. 2. It tells me there is not enough space on the disc. or 3. It encodes it (which takes forever) then when it is done encoding, it tells me the movie is too long, even though I have burned DVDs at that lenght before. What can I do to fix this problem? All I want to do is just burn a DVD movie after I ripped it. Thanks in advance for any advice!

It sounds like you're trying to encode to video-DVD from an mp4 file. This is not the best way to do it (very lossy). You can instead try ripping with MacTheRipper, then using something like DVD2one (I think Roxio's Popcorn can also do it) to compress to single-layered DVD-size if needed, and burn the VIDEO_TS folder as UDF-DVD.

Would the all of that fit on a dvd disc?

The output of an application that compresses video-DVD data to fit on a single-layered disc will fit on a single-layered disc, if that's what you're asking.

Edit: If you don't want to spend too much money on Popcorn or DVD2one (or you don't know where to.. aquire it), I think ffmpegX can also do something similar.
