Hello all.
I will be among your ranks within the next week. After much (much) consideration over a period of over a year, I am going to bite the bullet, and I have a dual 1.8 on the way. I have spent a ton of time researching OSX itself and becoming familiar as much as I can in advance with PowerPC hardware. I intend to do mostly video editing with it, other than daily stuff of course, but the other very important aspect to me is Photos. On to the point;
I have a very large collection of my digital photos that I will be needing to convert to the G5. Currently under windows I use Picasa 2 (now a Google app) which is, in short, god's gift to photographers. It allows me to simply download, catalog, search, edit, view, and reorganize my library with ease. Ease of the kind you rarely see on a windows platform (I say this as a life long PC user, now going on 12 years).
I am looking for suggestions for Photo library apps. I have used iPhoto before on other macs, and found it lacking and clunky in comparison to Picasa, and also a bit slow. I'm not trying to say bad things about iPhoto so much as I am making a direct 1 to 1 comparison, and Picasa 2 sets a very high standard to compete with in my opinion.
Any thoughts at all are greatly appreciated. I know very little about mac software in comparison to an actual mac user, and am willing to be enlightened and pointed in new directions.
