since upgrading to 10,4,2 [or was it just a coincidence?] i've found that i can no longer 'indirectly' open files in photoshop. ie. neither double-clicking photoshop files in the finder, dropping files onto photoshop in the dock, trying "open with..." from the contextual menu or working with any other apps which use photoshop as an external editor has any effect. photoshop opens [or is switched to if already open] but the file itself doesn't open. the only way i can access files is by using "file > open" from within photoshop.

anyone else?

Other threads on this. Something to do with a library file not making it over. Can reinstall PS or add the file. Don't know the name but a search of photoshop should come up with a thread where someone mentioned which one to get things right again.

I am having the same problem and found this thread, but that doesn't seem to help: I already trashed the Previous System folder, and I don't have a Scripting Additions folder min /Library.

Assuming you did an Archive & Install to Tiger here, eh?

Make sure Photoshop is not running.
Copy (or move) Adobe Unit Types from
/Previous Systems/Library/ScriptingAdditions
to
/Library/ScriptingAdditions
tried it, restarted photoshop and it worked - nice one! saved me a boring reinstall

Interesting question. Though since PS is an Adobe app not an Apple on, you'd likely spend more time finding the correct paths than simply reinstalling.

Does Photoshop now use a package installer that Pacifist can open?

i've stuck that missing 'library/scriptingadditions/adobe unit types' file here on my server for those of you who [like me] couldnae face the thought of having to do a full re-install for the sake of a 3,4kb support file. it fixed the photoshop problem for me.

what don said; just make one in the main '/Library' folder. it's actually called "ScriptingAdditions". i dunno if the capitalisation matters or not. sometimes it does - sometimes it doesn't in this crazy unix-based world we live in!

You didn't need to do that anyway. Just reinstall over the top.

And the daft pikey gentleman shouldnae have posted this without searching. He'd have found me answering it quite some time ago.

Uhh, I remember responding to your question though I didn't remember the Scripting Additions part as I had reinstalled PS2 directly before the other solution came to light.
