.mpg .wmv files launch web browser?

I've noticed that sometimes playing movie files (.mpg, .avi., .wmv) will launch my webrowser (in this case Safari) and take me to a site. This kind of advertising bothers me. Is there any way to block this from happening, to tell Quicktime I don't want it to be able to launch Safari?

Thank you. Running 10.4 w/Quicktime Pro 7, although it happened in .2 and .3, as well.

AFAIK, this can only happen with wmv and mov files, since they're the only ones to support that kind of behaviour. Check the preferences in WMP under 'security' to see if you've got it set to run scripts in media files.

Could be I had the movie types wrong. Certainly .wmv. However, I'm playing them in Mplayer so WMP's preferences aren't a big help. Thanks for the response.
