Allegedly, this software (PC Anywhere) will allow you to access your computer from any other computer... which would be nice, when, for example, I go to a client's office and discover I forgot a file at home...
...but it's called PC Anywhere PC Anywhere.
Does anyone know if it works for Mac?
If not, does anyone know any similar programs?

If you're referring to Symantec's PCAnyWhere, it's PC only.

But you could set up something similar with VNC. We've got a headless server here at work that I connect to from my station if I ever need to configure anything.

I guess you can't roll up to *any* computer and use VNC. You could maybe allow web access into your computer (assuming you overcome any issues with dynamic IP addresses, if this is relevant to you). Just a thought.

Eh, that's true. Dynamic IP is no problem, though — that's why God gave us DynDNS!

Sure you can. Between the Java VNC client (either built in to the VNC server, or installed separately in your webserver), and a Java SSH app, you can cover all your bases.

I'm thinking about walking into an Internet Café (or somesuch) and getting files from your computer. Presumably your method would always require some software installation which might not always be possible/feasible.

A java SSH/SCP app, like MindTerm, will run in the web browser. So it doesn't really take installation.
The same applies to pcAnywhere -- it contains Java applets and ActiveX controls to allow access from a browser.
