In OmniWeb--I guess in other browsers too--when you hover over a toolbar element, a tooltip appears which identifies it. More usefully, at some websites (this one, for example), you can hover over a thread and see the first post.

I seem to recall that someone here had figured out how to get tooltips to be yellow instead of the default dark grey, which is too dark for me. I think it was a hidden preference in com.omniweb.plist, but having looked at that document, I can't find what to change.

This would've been in OmniWeb 4.x, so maybe it's just no longer possible.

Anyone have any answers? Thanks in advance!

Copy & paste on to the Terminal.app:

defaults write com.omnigroup.OmniWeb5 AlternateThumbnailMouseTips -bool true

Thanks, yskar. That did change the color of the tooltip when hovering over tabs; however, tooltips remain grey when hovering over threads and toolbar items.

Hmmm . . . .
