Connecting to an Internet broadcast:

If you know the Internet address (URL) of an MP3 streaming broadcast, you can connect to it using iTunes.

1. Choose Advanced > Open Stream.

2. Enter the full URL of the file you want to listen to. For example, http://www.apple.com/itunes/sample.mp3.

(Taken from the iTunes built-in Help feature)

Yes, you can.

If you have certain stations you would like easy and fast access to, you can add your favorite stations to an iTunes playlist. Just create a new playlist and give it a name such as Radio favorites. Then, click and drag a few of your favorite stations to the playlist. A radio icon will appear in front of the station names that you add.

You can use your web browser to find your favorite broadcast radio stations, or ones in your city. Many radio stations will offer an “online link” that you can click on and add that station to your iTunes library for quick and easy access to.

To stay updated with the latest in Internet Radio stations, click on the Radio button in the iTunes source menu and click Refresh in the upper-right corner of the iTunes window and iTunes will automatically update your list with the latest stations.

If you decide that Internet Radio doesn’t appeal to you at this time, you can remove it from the source menu by going to the iTunes menu and selecting Preferences and choosing to remove Radio from the source menu.

No, you cannot. The user wants to be able to delete some of the radio stations that Apple has in iTunes by default.

Well if you remove radio from the source list and have a playlist called Radio then what exactly is the difference other than the location of the Source and its icon?

good points. the playlist will be good enough i guess. they should fix this feature though. seems a little heavy handed to not be able to edit that list...
