I searched, read and pondered. Then I decided I'd come here and ask those who are smarter and more experienced if they can help me with what I am trying to do:

I have a large list of powerpoint presentations. I have found that if I open them with keynote and export with flash, the output is very nice and predictable, and I think easier to deal with than exporting powerpoint files as a webpage. However, I have a lot of files, and it will become very tedious if I try to do it all by hand. So, I was trying to figure out how to get automator to look in specific folders, get all powerpoint files, open them up in keynote and convert them into swf files. The first steps seem easy, but I simply cannot figure out how to write an action that will convert the file to a swf and save it to a designated location.

Does anyone out there have any experience with this? If so, is it something I can learn (little to no programming knowledge), or is anyone willing to have a crack at it for me? This will potentially save me a tremendous amount of time. Any sage advice is appreciated.....

So far, no takers, huh? Can anyone suggest another forum or reference for me to read about building automator actions. Or, if anyone wants to take a stab at making one, I'd love it!

I think you're going to need an Applescript that exports the Keynote file to SWF.

I agree. I played with it a little. Tried to "record" my action- didn't seem to produce any output.

any thoughts?
