My TextEdit has gone funky with Tiger: Yours? Workarounds?

Hi, I did a search but haven't found forum mention of this...
Since I upgraded to Tiger recently (and hence to TextEdit 1.4) I notice funkiness with TE:
1) When I am working with an rtfd document, the cursor will not move upward past some graphics. Not all, but SOME. For example when copying a set of amazon revs and pasting in TE the cursor SOMEtimes gets caught by their little graphic for review stars. Not at all of them, but some. Annoying.
2) Text redraw is FREQUENTLY very funky (even with just text on page - no graphics): some lines of text don't display, some show twice. Requires that I scroll up or down a page to redraw whole page.
Text Edit under Panther never gave me any such anomalies. Does everyone else experience this?
Is this the price we pay for getting a couple enhancements (page numbering & lists options)? Or is there a workaround I can use till Apple releases an update?
Is TE so tightly integrated to the OS that I cannot drag a copy of TE 1.3 from an old backup disk?
Thanks for help - for quick purposes I'd move over to make TE my primary WP app and would hate to lose it.

I can't think of any reason why you couldn't restore from an old version. TextEdit doesn't use any private APIs or anything.
I can't say I'd run into those problems, though. Would it be possible to post a sample document that displays the bugs so we can see if it's reproducible or if it's something with your system?

I've been seeing problem 2 in XCode, which to me indicates that it's a general problem in Tiger's NSTextView class, not just in TextEdit.
I'll see if I can find a 100% repeatable test case and submit it to Apple as a bug.

The only problems I have in TextEdit under Tiger are:
tiny little dots sometimes appear above the letters when I type.
When I turn page numbering on, the date printed is always 01/01/00. According to a discussion on the Apple forums, this is a bug.
I mostly use TextEdit for my word processing these days, too, and if it just added the features that the AppleWorks word processor has, I probably wouldn't need anything else.
