First off, my apologies for posiyng this again. The first time I posted, the system bunged up and I can't delete or modify my other post.

Here's my setup:

PowerBook G4 15"/1.5GHz/768MB RAM/80GB HD.

Now, here's my dilemma:

While I run Mozilla 1.7.8, it will occasionally stall. When I attempt a Foece Quit, the "Force Quit" window will show me that Mozilla is "not responding." Should I just ditch Mozilla or is there a known performance glitch and I have to just put up with this?

I don't know if you should ditch it or not, really. Is there anything more specific that you do; can you recreate it? What was the last big thing you did before it started glitching?

I don't know if it works like this on Macs (never had any reall troubles) but I remember on Windows reinstalling helped. Have you tried this?

If you do decide to ditch it though, I would reccomend Firefox. Its made by the same people IIRC and its pretty simple. I would describe it as fairly lightweight by nature but at the same time highly extensible. Some problems I have with it are that its a port so it doesnt have any of the OSX services, its controls are nonstandard--drop down boxes are like they are on windows, and lastly sometimes Flash can make it lock up... Other than that though, its pretty damn good, IMO.

I've been running Firefox for a long time and I've never had any problems with it. Firefox is also Mozilla-based, so if there were some fundamental code problem in one I think it would show up in the other. Have you thought about reinstalling or maybe dropping back to an earlier version?

Do you use Moz for e-mail or just web browsing? If JUST browsing try Firefox or Camino they're the same rendering engine but just lighter weight programs. Also you might try Safari. But if you hit force quit the app should quit does it not?
Also can can force quit by clicking and holding in the dock.
