I am trying to do video iChats with my dad, who is behind a ZyXel Prestige 334W router. No port forwarding for the iChat ports are configured on the Prestige (in ZyXel lingo, SUA Server).

When he tries to establish a chat with me, my Connection Doctor reports
Code:
2005-08-06 10:55:24 -0400: Leonhard Hoffmann did not respond. Tried to send UDP SIP "invite" to the following IP addresses and ports: xx.xx.xx.xx:28214, 192.168.1.2:5060
When I try to initiate, my Connection Doctor reports the same thing. "xx.xx.xx.xx" is the external address of the ZyXel Prestige. The internal address of the Mac (static IP) is 192.168.1.2.

I have tried various configuration changes on the ZyXel that involve forwarding ports directly to the 192.168.1.2 address, but the Connection Doctor always reports the same thing. I have no idea why this is not working.

Oh, another thing, my dad can do video chats with my brother, but not with me, while I can do video chats with everyone else from here.

Are you behind a router as well?

Yes, I am. It is a D-Link DVG-1402S. However, I have no problems, other than with my father. The Connection Doctor log points to problems at his end. I guess, I should also check his Connection Doctor log.

Firewall-to-Firewall direct connections cause problems. You usually have to open ports to do this. Why you can connect with others is because they are probably not behind firewalls or have ports forwarded.
