Hey everyone. I just got my palm one tungsten E and the cd installation of the desktop app on my ibook would not work. At the end of every installation attempt, I would get a message box saying that "The installation did not complete succussfully." So I downloaded the desktop app from the palm one desktop but that doesn't come with all the bundled extras that comes with the CD. So i look through the cd and see that there is a vise installer for Documents To Go which allows me to edit/view word compatible files. However without the app for it on my ibook, I can't transfer any of the documents to or from my tungsten or ibook. So i try to use the installer and at the end of the installation I always get the following message:
Error Creating File
1008:5,-5000 Access denied error
then I get
You do not have enough access priviliges for this installation
I am the only user on the ibook. I tried copying the installer onto my HD and making sure everything is set ot read and write but it still won't let me. I've tried reparing permissions and the sudo periodic stuff in the terminal. Any ideas anyone? I don't want to have to buy the freaking app that is suppose to come with my PDA. thanks in advance!

You probably need to repair your permissions. Palm Desktop needs in install conduits in your Macintosh HD > Library > Application Support folder. More than likely, the Application Support folder's permissions are not allowing the installation. In other words, you probably have Read-Only access to the folder.
Try repairing your permissions first. If that doesn't work, then manually change the permissions to allow yourself Read/Write access to the folder. That should allow Palm Desktop to install the necessary files in that folder.
And on the side, I would definitely install the version that came on the CD. It'll have files that will be specifically designed for your Tungsten E.

I checked the applications support folder for the macintosh HD and my home folder both have it so that everything is read & write. But under the HD, the app support folder said the owner was system so i changed the owner to my name but when I tried to install the desktop software, it immediately said that there was an issue was access permissions. Oh and I already had tried repairing permissions before posting this thread. Thanks for the reply, any other suggestions?
