There are two threads on Apple discussions regarding recent changes in Google code and strange behavior in Safari::

http://discussions.info.apple.com/we...t8.3@.68b63a1d

http://discussions.info.apple.com/we...9Q.2@.68b63281

It appears that Google has changed some internal code. I recommend reporting this to http://www.google.com/support/bin/request.py and to Report Bugs to Apple in the Safari program so that this gets some attention.
