Generally speaking, Skype works pretty well for me.

The Gizmo Project is quite intriguing:

The software works well for a Beta. I live in hope that they might one day support cross platform video conferencing before Skype does... (iChat and AIM on a PC have been disappointing).

I have been able to place calls to normal phones with Gizmo easily and the quality is good.

Anyone care to share their experiences?

Urgh - another VOIP app that's tied into one provider.

Can't someone write a good VOIP client that has a mac-like interface and is open to any VOIP provider (like X-Lite - but more Mac-like.)

It's looking better and better. Now that Skype is owned by Feebay I'll be using this more.

Is it really better now? I tried it a couple of months ago for Mac>PC talking and the quality was rubbish compared to Skype (although Skype has become very unreliable).
