When I bought my Powerbook a couple of years ago it came with Omni Outliner included. When I updated to Tiger I did a clean install and so I lost it. Anyone know what I need to do to get it back? Can I get it off the original restore discs that came with my computer in some way?

I have some docs I need to read and I don't mind paying for an upgrade for Tiger (if it's needed), but I really don't want to do is pay full price to buy something that I already have if you know what I mean.

I thought about doing the same thing last week but I determined it wasn't worth the trouble. I paid the extra $ for the full version.

it is on your restore discs... run the option to install the extra apps, and it will install it (along with the other extra apps your powerbook came with).

I'm not sure, but I think you can also use Pacifist to just extract the Omni package.

Thanks for the replies. I tried to find it with Pacifist but it isn't in my extra applications, only things like acrobat reader. I checked both install cds as best as I could and I am beginning to think that it was preloaded on the computer but not on the cds that came with it.

It's on the restore disk in a package called "Bundled Applications" (or similarly named).

Doesn't seem to be there either, after making invisable items visable there was again the ilife suite and acrobat reader, nothing else. It doesn't seem to have been made availiable for restore on the Italian powerbooks.

Ah, I see... they are not in the OS X install package on the restore DVD as I had thought they were. They are in a hidden .images folder.

If you don't want to install all the extra apps (which you can do with the Software Restore app), you can open the hidden folder in Finder, which has DMG images of the extra apps that you can mount and install the ones you want.

On my system, I just had to open a Finder window and from the menu select Go -> Go to folder. And type in "/Volumes/PowerBook G4 Software/.images". Then you will get a folder of all the extra apps, and you can just install the ones you want

Your location may differ, depending on the name of your mounted restore DVD. (mine is called "PowerBook G4 Software").
