I recently noticed that when resizing a Quicktime movie window via a keyboard shortcut or menu command, it doesn't grow or shrink smoothly. That is, it doesn't animate to the new window size, it simply snaps to it.

It used to work just fine (I remember that it did so when I first installed Tiger). I created a new user on my system, to see if it was a problem with my account, but it still occurs with a freshly created user as well.

Anyone else see this? What could be causing this? Yes, it's a minor thing, but it'd be nice to see that resize animation again (especially when going from windowed to fullscreen and back in QT).

Thanks in advance!

It works for .mov but not for .mpg files (that's how it always behaved for me).

Doesn't matter what kind of file..doesn't work with anything.

Ideas?

(BTW, I'm running on an iMac G5, so it should be able to do it...and like I said, it used to...)

What the heck? My Quicktime (on my G4 iMac) has also stopped doing smooth resizing!

Edit: it turns out, an MPG file I downloaded won't resize smoothly, but the Quicktime files I have still do.

Well, as it turns out, it still works, but only for some of my QT files. Can't seem to figure out what makes it work and what doesn't. MPG's don't at all, it seems, but .MOV's seem to be mixed.

Anyone know why that is? Could it be because of the data rate of the video? Seems my 1.8GHz G5 should be able to handle just about all except the most demanding HD files.

Perhaps the .mov files need to have been created/saved with the latest version of QT?

Or it only works under certain video codecs.
