I'm using Entourage X, 10.1.6, and have a problem with the loudness of the alerts. It seems that the volume of the alert sounds for Entourage isn't controlled by the Alert Volume slider in the control panel, and since there's no volume control in Entourage preferences, they're always at maximum volume. So I have to lower my system volume, which then makes my headphones too quiet when I'm listening to music or making Skype calls. With speakers it's not so bad because they're active and are relatively loud.

So does anyone know of any hack, utility or workaround so I don't constantly have to be adjusting system volume?

A second thing I've noticed in OS X 10.3.9 is that changing the system volume automatically resets the Alert Volume to maximum!!! You then have to go into the control panel and jiggle it a bit to get it to go back down to set levels....
