It's not bad and free. Yes it works quite well to replace Office.

NOJ is a Mac version of OpenOffice.org 1.1.4 that runs natively in MacOS X although it still has certain characteristics that belie its Linux/Windows/Solaris heritage, such as its open/save dialogues and interface. It is free (though donations to support the ongoing development and costs of hosting it etc are gratefully received).

Can it replace MS Office? Yes and no. It really depends on what you need it for and how badly you need compatibility with other Office users. The compatibility of NOJ/OOo with MS Office formats is good but not perfect. In terms of features, it is on a par with Office 98, IMO, so if you find you don't need or want all the new things offered in the latest versions of MS Office, then it will be fine for you.

In some respects it is actually superior to MS Office, such as its support for far more international languages, better support for Right-To-Left text input (so e.g. Arabic support is better) and a much better "Styles" function (though not as good as Pages).

Learn more and find user support at http://trinity.neooffice.org and http://neowiki.sixthcrusade.com/ (which has a section on the history of the project, some hints on how to do certain things, etc).

Edit: Doh, I see that you were just posting the headline of the linked article!! For those who are curious, just read the article.

Like JKT said, it depends on your needs. It's certainly worth trying, since it's free.
