I just recently recieved my new 12 inch pb, and its a great machine. However, I have no use for Quickbooks NUE, so, i dragged its contents to the trash, and emptied the trash. I used Spotlight to see if it can pick up anything I might have left behind, and it found a couple of files like "quickbooks.plist", but there were more letters and numbers in the file name. What is the "plist" extension, and is it safe to remove?

A plist (short for "property list") normally stores preferences or other settings for a program. It should be fine to delete.

Although it's perfectly safe to delete, there's no reason really that you would need to. The .plist files are usually pretty small in file size, and it won't affect the operation of the system in any way (unlike keys in the Windows registry).

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!
