The VLC Team has initiated a fundraiser to collect money to buy a PowerMac G5, and finally develop S/PDIF-support for it. At this time they have collected 378 €, and need about 800 € to buy a second-hand G5. Contribute to the project by donating via PayPal and write PowerMac G5 in the comment. I'm not related to VLC-project or this fundraiser other than in need of S/PDIF-support in VLC for my G5

I'm not an expert on this, but i think this wouldn't just help G5 owners. The way to develop S/PDIF-support is probably the same with the 17" Powerbook and future Apple products with S/PDIF output.
