Since i started to use an optical audio cable for my dual 2.5 G5 the volukme control thing in th emenu bar doesnt work . it dosnt turn the volume down. and also my keyboard volume controls dont work except for the mute button. I m wondering if there is an optical audio control thing that will allow me to contorl the volume from the menu and also the keyboard. any help would be great. thanks

I believe the optical out is in fact a line output, i.e. designed for external volume control.

Yes, that is correct -- adjusting volume on a digital output reduces sound quality. Use the receiver's volume controls.
