A quick pic of what I'd like to have in a simple and handy Calendar Menu reference app is this:
Does one exist? I can't find any...
(ignore the details of the quick mock up...)
Thanks,

There's also BurnoutMenu, which was created by ambush on these forums.

Take a look at wClock. It's also freeware.

You see the main problem with MenuCalendarClock (from Objective Park) is the useful stuff is that you have to pay a reasonably large amount for the important stuff.
They annoyed me by buying the rights/stopping the production of Calendarclock by the author of Butler. It was superior, free and lovely. Unfortunately the old versions don't work with Tiger, and neither does Menucal ( http://www.gnarfle.com/) which is eerily similar!

I certainly don't think $19 is a lot of money for a nice little app - a Calendar Menu app that links perfectly with iCal. It's clean and simple and I got exactly what I was looking for plus a couple of unexpected bells.
Don't take this as a slight, but maybe before you get used to expecting stuff for free and suggesting that people should provide their work without charge you ought to try writing it yourself. I can't, and I'm happy to pay a bit money for someone's effort. I mean, I'd spend $20 on a few beers and not think twice about it.
With a bit of image adjustment here's the calendar I ended up with:
very nice.

I agree with you. Fortunately, I don't use iCal and so I didn't need all those extras. I just needed a replacement to the wClock features, namely the date and time. But yes, $19 seems a bit steep for the features offered.
kent m: I don't think threestain was saying he expected anything for free. I think he's saying that we have to pay a "reasonably large amount for the important stuff." Again, what you and I consider "important" is very subjective, but I tend to agree with threestain on this one. Just my 2ยข.

You're right - I misread. Excuse me on that.
I've been looking for a way to consolidate a lot of my birthday infos, show dates, personal notes & such, and have a way to quickly and visibly remind myself of the dates etc, and this just seems to bring it all together quite well. I haven't used iCal much up to now, but this links in very well with it- an app that can be relied on to remain constant throughout the life cycle of the Mac os, so I'm digging it.
Funny - $20 didn't seem like much to pay for it to me. What would you expect to pay for something like this and what apps do you compare it to that are worth $20? I'm curious.
One thing about Objectpark/MenuCalendarClock is that they don't seem to respond to emails so I'm not feeling too hopeful about their support services - which is part of what I pay for in an app...

It's hard for me to put a value since I only use MenuCalendarClock for the date and time. I don't use the iCal functions. Also I switched from wClock which is free. So to me, $19 seems a bit much. Even with the iCal functions, I think $12.95 is a nice/decent price for this app, not $19, again, just my opinion. I'm glad it's free with the iCal functions disabled. Works great.

The main problem I have with them at Objectpark is that Calendarclock was offered as free/donationware, with all the bells and whistles that menucalendarclock has. They obviously decided that that was not a good deal (i.e. why would anyone buy something that was $20 for no additional benefit from the freeware one, that was actually better coded), and so development on the freeware one was stopped (bought/litigation I dunno).
But having had a look around at things again, I ended up buying burnout menu as cited above. Now for $5.95, you get iCal syncing, to-do list updating and a calendar. Much better I think.

You're right. When CalClock was bought and made into payware, the quality went down the tubes. I'm just glad the version released right before the changeover still works.
