I am trying to use the built in ftp program in Freeway Express to upload a site to my .mac iDisk but I keep receiving an error message saying that I cannot connect because the FTP server is not responding. I've made sure that all my directory, password info is correct.

Can anyone help me troubleshoot this? Thanks

iDisk uses WebDAV not FTP for access. So unless you can access WebDAV servers via Freeway Express you will have to upload your site to your iDisk via the Finder or a third party application such as Transmit.

You do not have to use another application like Transmit. Just do this:

Choose "Go to->iDisk" in the Finder so that your iDisk appears on the desktop.
Switch from "FTP Upload" to "File Copy" in the Freeway upload dialog.
Click "Path:" and choose the Sites folder (or the correct subfolder) on your iDisk.
Now you can upload your web page.

This way you only have to remember that you must have your iDisk on your desktop before you upload any files with Freeway. It's much easier than to use Transmit or the Finder to upload your webpage.

This has nothing to do with the previous question but I thought I would ask it in here rather than starting a new thread.
Anyways I am trying to figure out this iDisk interface. Okay so I have basically come to the conclusiont that it is a backup online. However I am still trying to figure out what the purpose of the program "backup" is? Is it just a program that you can use to backup your files onto a cd, dvd, idisk.. and it will schedule backups for you rather than you having to copy the items you want to backup into idisk? And if you copy files directly into idisk is it the same concept as backing them up?
