I'm importing all my mail into Mail now, about 5 years worth, and I'm looking to take the plunge into using Mail/iCal/Address Book instead of Entourage 2004, mainly because I am sick of how poorly the calendaring is working in Entourage and the fact that my wife and I have .mac accounts which I get little use of because we're not using the iApps.

That said: I'm concerned that 5+ years of muscle memory will go to waste, and that I'll end up screwed—has anyone here made this transition before? Any tips on what to do, add-ons that help, or dire warnings as to why I shouldn't do this?

(I searched the forums, and there wasn't much substantive discussion I could find quickly--I hope this hasn't been done to death, but I don't recall seeing much on it.)

I made the transition years ago, and never looked back. Had been using Outlook Express then Entourage for years, but Mail/Address Book/iCal works great for me. And this is with thousands of emails, 8 email addresses etc. You'll be fine.

If you have Tiger you're even better off, since Tiger Mail has some nice additions.

So far, it's going great. Mail has all my mail now, and I'm getting used to iCal and Address Book.
