Anyone notice that when you use Might Mouse's Scroll Ball over AIM conversation windows, the application unexpectedly quits?

You could always use iChat or Adium. Haven't noticed any problems with either of those.

I'd like to confirm that I'm not the only one experiencing this behavior. Thanks.

I've had this problem since I got my mighty mouse too. I also have had this problem with AIM and other scrolling mice for some time, maybe it's AOL's problem?

Thanks for your response. Just curious what AIM version are you using? Have you tried using more than one version in the time period that you have used Mighty Mouse? I use 4.5.995 and haven't tried any other AIM version yet.

I would seriously suggest to switch to iChat, Adium or Fire.

Adium++

It's one app I always show to potential switchers, and everyone has loved it.

oh man, I had the same problem with my ibook and the mighty mouse - I thought it was just me. It froze when I tried to drag pictures from an ichat window in to photo

Official AIM has nothing on the current development versions of Adium ever since Google's Summer of Code thing had some guy work on gaim's filetransfer.

I would switch to Adium, except when I launch it, the Buddy List is all out of order and I don't want to spend the time to fix it. If Adium or iChat would do the Buddy List the same way AIM does, then things would be much less of a pain.

You can probably fix that very quickly. In Adium you can customize pretty much anything you want. If you want to have things sorted in the buddy list for instance, you can sort alphabetically, according to status or manually or customize. Probably you just had to click one menu to restore your order to have things the way you want without spending any time to fix it

So if you tell us how you want things sorted, we could probably help you. But I can guarantee you, you're lightyears more flexible with Adium.

Thanks for the help so far...Unfortunately, I don't want it sorted alphabetically or by status. Manually would take forever. Customize?? I don't see that. (The "sorting method" I've used for the past several years is not generic...it's just an order I've created manually that I've gotten really used to.)

Yes, it's the fourth option in the menu. Make sure you download the latest version, you can customize it.

Have you tried these? I'm not sure, but I think if you set it to manually, it will accept the way it is sorted on the server.

And even if it is not, a switch to Adium is well worth it. Especially if you use your Address Book properly.

I do have the latest version, 0.84. The only 4th option I see is "Configure Sorting..." that becomes highlited if you select Alphabetically or Status. I still don't see a Customize option.

It's the third option "Sort Contacts Manually" say that if it doesn't pick up your AIM sorting after selecting that you can IM me at s/n:kbotc and I'll help you get it hammered out, because the code does just take the AIM one and use it's order. Maybe a bad plist or something.

Yes, it is Configure Sorting which customizes everything. That's why I used a small `c' and not Customize.

The option I prefer is to sort by status and hide the contact which are offline.

You don't want to "waste" time re-organizing your contacts, so you'd rather have AIM crash on you all the time?
