Is it possible to make two or more iTunes libraries?

I keep having this amazing dream about multiple "genre-libraries" with more specific genres as sub-categories.

For example :

Library: Modern. Genre: Indie Rock; Alternative; Soundtrack...
LIbrary: Classical. Genre: Baroque; Romantic; Minimalism...
Library: Spoken Word. Genre: Lectures; Poetry; Audiobooks...

But in the morning, I always start-up to find the same lonely library in an empty source field (I never use playlists).

Plus with more than one library I could put music I don't listen to much in a "Seconds" Library so I don't have to trawl through all my so-so and only-just-good-enough-not-to-delete music to find my favourite music.

P.S.
Sorry if this has been discussed already but I couldn't find anything here or at Apple Support.

Use smart playlists as your multiple Libraries. File > New Smart Playlist.

Have one called modern, which will include the genres Indie Rock, Alternative, Soundtrack etc.
Have one called classical...etc etc

Now your main Library has all your music, and each smart playlist will automatically update with the correct genres.

You can have your music in any folder you want, just use "import folders" and point it to the location. This has been very useful for me, as I can share my music throughout my network, and still have iTunes see it and update the iPod.

Hmm. Thanx for the suggestions.

It's the Smart Playlists, stupid!

This sounded too good to be true, and sadly, was. Problem being you can't browse. Can you?

Anyway, Libra sounds dodgy as hell. Worst feedback ever. One guy sums up the general feeling:

"If anyone can help me get back to my pre-Libra state I'd sure appreciate it."

I know you recommend it poster, but I'm not sure...

If I use multiple folders, do I have to locate them everytime I wan't to switch Libraries?
I've had trouble with "!" marked tracks when playing around with the source folder ("file cannot be found"). Would rather not mess with it again.

So why doesn't iTunes 5 have multiple libraries?! The fact Libra exists shows there's a consumer demand.

Maybe I should wait for that... O... the dream is fading again....

You can't browse playlists, but you could use the arrows to navigate to the artist or album you want.

Actually, you can. The button changes to 'Burn' by default, but the menu item is still there as always (Edit > Show Browser) or just press Cmd-B.

Now there really is no issue

Janey Mack! You're right! "I never use Playlists" I said. Idiot. Smart Playlists are my friends.

Thanks!

Edit: Can you made sub-genres within a Smart Playlist?

Unfortunately there are no sub-genres within iTunes. The best you can do is create your own genres overall - like Acid Jazz/Industrial, Electronica/House etc.
