using the Insert > Date and Time function in MS Word I get the wrong date. The system is set to sync the Date & Time prefs with a clock server and this is working properly. Where is Word looking for this info? it's never far off, for example today it shows 9/16/05 (actual is 9/21/05).

Have you had Word running for five days and maybe it is using the date when the program started? Quit and restart Word and see what happens. Otherwise, very odd.
