At school i used putty (an ssh type program) on my dell to connect to the local server for homework. Ever since I got my pb12, I was wondering if there was a way to do this through Darwin, or if there is another program.

That's the great thing about OS X. You don't need a bunch of 3rd party apps because that functionality comes with the BSD layer. If you want a GUI for ssh, I suggest JellyfiSSH.

PuTTY doesn't exist for OSX or Darwin as far as I'm aware, but the original ssh client is built into both. At the Terminal, use the following:

ssh username@host

There are also several GUIs out there to store and launch SSH sessions for you.

Just one more question, I need to change the port number. How would I do this in the terminal.

Thanks

In general, ports are specified like host:port, as in 128.0.0.1:631. Or you could just enter the port in the port field in JellyfiSSH.
