i used to DL/listen to little 30 second snippets of songs from music cd's i was considering buying, from sites like CDnow, etc

now for some reason, something has changed, and all that happens when i click on one of these music snippet links, either realplayer or wmv, is it DL's some "empty" 4 kb file, and does NOT play the music

i upgraded to tiger a few months ago; is that part of the problem? i dont' remember if i successfully listened to music samples post-upgrade

i called apple and they said it was a problem w/realplayer; i.e. call them. but what about the fact that wmv was having the same problem? they didn't acknowledge the logic of that question

anybody w/any help?

thanks much!

what's in the 4K file? does the same happen with all browsers? did you try asking the website's tech support?

ok, the little 4K files DO play

but it usta be they'd play automatically. i wouldn't have to go looking for them in a downloads folder

other thoughts?

thanks

Over in Safari, <Help> -> <Installed Plug-ins>.

"RealPlayer Plugin" and "Windows Media Plugin" are necessary to call the right applications in your case.

What about the option to "Open "Safe" files after download." Does this affect RM/WMV streaming files?

Double-clicking the icon in Safari's downloads window is easier than finding the file in the Finder.

Also, for RealAudio links, try clicking the links for the site in RealPlayer's browser window.
