My Audio Recorder recently stopped working. It would crash as soon as I begin recording. I can't think of any change to my system other than the typical software updates. Has anyone encountered this problem?

you're talking about the application "audio recorder"?
have you tried trashing the pref file?

what version of the os, what version of the app are you running?

Yes, I'm talking about "Audio Recorder" version 2.1. I'm on 10.3.9.

I deleted the preference file and it's fixed! Thank you thank you!
I'm new to this. Is this common knowledge for fixing a crash?

No, wait. It's not fixed. When I delete the preference file the app defaults to recording in AIFF, and that's why it doesn't crash on me. If I try to record in MP4 format it crashes again.

after you delete the prefs file, u have to re-do your "preferred" settings.

u might try versiontracker.com; look for another audio recording program...

also, try repairing permissions, or running disk utility from your mac osx disk...
