My computer has frozen completely several times. When I try a force quit, I have gotten a message cautioning me about force quitting the N122U Button Manager. Even when I have tried force quitting it, nothing happens, and I end up having to unplug my computer to get it to turn off. I wrote a note, "N122U Button Manager-getting hung up." I don't know if that's something I read on the screen or just a note to self.

What is a N122U Button Manager? If there is a problem with it, how do I fix it?

Help. Thanks, Ginny

It's for your Canon scanner and I believe it's for the various buttons on the front of the scanner to work. If you don't use them, remove it from your Startup Items. I believe this has been covered before, probably with a different number. Try a search for "canon scanner" or something and maybe you'll find more info about it.

By the way you should NEVER be forced to unplug the machine. Press Command Option Power to force a restart (I think it's Command Option Eject on newer Macs)—or was that control instead of option? Since OS X I rarely have to use that key combo—or hold down the power button for a few seconds until the machine turns off.
