Hello,

In the past, on Panther, when I save an incoming mail containing attachments, the program created a new folder on my desktop, containing inside the mail in .txt format as well as the attachments.
I liked this situation.

Now, in Tiger, when I save an e-mail containing attachments, I get on my desktop a TextEdit file, which when opened, it contains the text of the mail and the attachments in one document.
This TextEdit has an extension .rtfd. When changing this extension into .txt the whole TextEdit file changed itself into a folder containing inside it the mail itself as .txt file and all the attachments separately, as was the situation in Panther.
This is the situation I wish to have.
How can I configure Mail to Save my e-mails in the way I am looking for.

TIA

FWIW, the .rtfd extension is just a wrapper. If you control-click the file and "Show Package Contents", you will see that the contents are simply an .rtf text file and the attachments as separate files. Also, in Tiger's Mail, IIRC, your attachments are saved in a distinct folder ~/Library/Mail Downloads anyway.

Thanks for this explanations.
I have explained in my first mail how I can restore the text and the attachments.
What I want to know is if it possible to change the default in Mail Tiger to the one exited before in panther.

TIA

It seems not, but you could write an AppleScript (or modify an existing one) that would do this for you in one click.
