I have a new iMac G5 and I have transferred my photo library from my old powerbook G4 (iPhoto 2) to my new computer. I would also like to transfer my photo albums. I had saved a few of them a while ago on a CD and was able to drag them into my new iPhoto. But I can't figure out how I saved them because now when I try transferring other albums I keep getting messages like "the original cannot be found". I have tried dragging the albums onto the CD from my Pictures folder and I've also tried selecting them in iPhoto and burning a CD. I have also tried connecting with firewire and dragging the albums out of the Pictures files into the new iPhoto. No luck. Any ideas?

if you still have your "iPhoto Library" folder from your old powerbook (in your \user\pictures folder) just copy that back onto your new iMac. That will preserve your albums, photos, everything.

I copied that folder via fire wire and that's how I got all my pictures - including duplicate copies of many of them. My albums didn't appear - maybe because it was an older version of iPhoto?

I dont think the version should have mattered.

One thing you could try, on the old powerbook, let it upgrade to the latest version of iPhoto.
On the new Mac, delete your photos out of iPhoto.
On the new Mac, make sure you have the latest iPhoto.
Connect the FW Cable
re-transfer the "iPHoto Library" from the old powerbook to the new Mac
On the new Mac, open iPhoto....

Logically..... that should work and it should have your albums and photos back how they originally were on the powerbook.

Good Luck.
