I have an MPEG file that I'd like to trim some footage out of, but when I open the file with QuickTime Pro I am unable to select certain parts for cutting. Do I need to convert the MPEG file to a .mov file first or something?

You could convert to mov first, but you can also edit the mpeg directly with MPEG Streamclip.

Cool. Thanks for the tip, Jacke. I'll download MPEG Streamclip and give it a try.
