I read that the new iMac has some new iSight features. Specifically:
The new Photo Booth application (included) turns your iMac into a modern-day arcade photo booth (minus the coin slot). Just pick a special effect like sepia tint, x-ray, bulge or squeeze. And smile. Presto — instant high-quality photo. Once you have the perfect pic, take advantage of Photo Booth’s connections to share it via Mail, save it in iPhoto or use it as your Address Book or iChat buddy picture.
Can i put this on my PowerMac G5?
I already have iSight, so i don't see why it would be restricted to only iMac users.
Anyone know?

I was wondering the same thing, if Photo Booth will be available to anyone other than new iMac owners. I hope it will be available.

So is most shareware. But fun none the less. The photobooth demo has to be one of the funniest presentations Jobs has ever made. My kids would have a blast with this. Hell, I think it would be more fun to send a funny face in an email instead of an emoticon. Good stuff. Shows Apple has a sense of humor and has some fun along the way.

Fun sure. Too bad it's limited to new iMac owners only.

It's an interesting program and probably will become part of iLife (guessing).

I hope so. I can't picture Apple giving software to iMac users and nobody else.

Does anyone know if it's possible to use PhotoBooth with a 3rd party camera? or even an iSight (not attached to the new iMacs)? If I copy the app off of my iMac and try to use it on my Mini, will it work with an external firewire camera? or am I wasting my time?
Thanks!

I think it is a really small app anyway, so why not give it try? You can be the first! I'm sure no harm could come of it.

Yes guys it totally works so relax. I have a G5 tower and an iSight and it works 100%. No hacks needed.

was the speed okay?
I tried it on my 1.5GHz 12" Powerbook and the speed was awful
I also tried it on a friend's 1.3GHz 12" iBook and the speed was allright!
Any ideas what might be the reason? I don't think the Powerbook's nVidia FX5200Go isn't good enough for something like that... especially compared with the iBook's ATi 9250..
I don't have an iSight so I used a sony mini DV cam while testing photobooth on both laptops.
Seems like a software/setting prob but I have no idea what that might be
any ideas?

P.S. btw it works fine on my mac mini Core solo, it's just the powerbook 12 that for some reason performs with really bad fps

I reinstalled tiger, repaired permissions, reset PRAM NVRAM, updated pretty much everything needed to be patched/updated and still the same speed
Did yours perform with smooth motion with no annoying low frame rates?
