well got my iPod ordered. now...does anyone know a good program to easily convert Video_TS content from a DVD to H264/MP4 content with all the needed specs (such as aac audio, etc). while im at it...what about something to convert WMV files to the needed formats?

For Video_TS try ffmepgX and for WMV try Flip4Mac.

i didnt think handbrake was able to output aac audio

Along with the simple write-up on how to easily convert content you own to a format playable on the new iPod.
