Any help appreciated.
I delete them from within iTunes, with the left pane pointing to the library not a playlist.
I do not like the way iTunes organizes files so I have that option turned off. Deleting the actual files is done in the finder of course as is making new folders etc. In my original post, "deleting" means deleting the entry not the actual file. Playlists are no problem, they will also show the "! dot" indicating that the file can no longer be found, so you just delete that entry by selecting it then hitting the delete button. The same goes for the "library" at the top of the playlist pane, but when there are hundreds of these deleted files built up it becomes tedious...
I am reluctant to try the consolodate thing as I have a big folder of old mp3s that I do NOT want integrated into the music library!
Do you understand this a little better now, explaining it is also tedious, showing it to you on the Mac would take all of 5 seconds! Words!....
