hi, dear all, recently i upgrade my wife 's itune to i tune 5.0, though the comment in the forum is not so good, anyway, when i perform the upgrade in her i book G4, the whole database crash, and the musics just lost, and new i tune 5 just cannot load the playlist. as i have a whole lot of the database from my backup, i once tried to upload the musics again, but issue is:
i can import the musics from my backup harddrive, but once i remove the drive , error message arise from itune whenever i play the newly imported muscis, saying that the original file cannot be located, actually i copy the musics to new playlists of i tune, and the lists still appear in i Tune, but whenever i play the list, this error message comes.. how can i fix this problem?
many thanks.... , or how can i import musics from my backupdrive properly? is it related to the i Tune library ?
so i no longer dare to upgrade to i tune 6.0 now!!!!!!

All the music files should be intact in the Music/iTunes/iTunes Music folder which is inside your home folder. Just drag the whole Music/iTunes folder somewhere that's not in the Music folder, like the Desktop or something, and then quit and relaunch iTunes. That will create a fresh iTunes database, and then you can drag the .m4a files (or .mp3, .aif, or whatever they happen to be) from the old iTunes Music folder into iTunes to put them into the new database.

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!

hi, thanks for your reply, but as i want to rebuild or import the musics other than from Music CDs, says, from another backup harddrive or via firewire from i tune music folder of another i book , but it seems that whenever i unplug the source, this just can't play in i Tune, though the whole newly added playlists appears when i open i tune, but not in the i Tune music folder....
my step of importing the musics :
1/ plug in the backup harddrive
2/ search the music files for transfer
3/ open i Tune , and create new playlist
4/ drag the music files from the drive to the new i tune playlists
5/ unplug the drive
so please advise ...
thanks a lot
