I have a new iMac G5 and I'm having problems with getting my Windows Media Player to open automatically when I click on the WMV icon I want to open.
I've installed a VLC WMV player (Mac OS X) and it works like a champ ... BUT ... it's not a default player. When I click directly on the WMV icon Photoshop or Illustrator try to open it - and of course, it doesn't open.
Is there a way to make the VLC player my default and turn the photoshop and Illustrator 'OFF' as default openers/players?
I have never had this problem before on any of my previous Macs - and there have been many!
I have always been able to click on the WMV icon and it would go to the player screen automatically. I'd rather not go through the VLC manual drill each time I want to view a WMV.
Any help would make you my best buddy for the day!
Get info on a file, change "open with" to VLC (by the way, it's just "VLC", it plays a lot of other files than just wmv), then press the "change all"-button.
