I finally sold my imac which I used with os 9 for go live for web editing and photoshop 5.5. None of which work on my ibook g4 with Tiger. I need an inexpensive web design program I update two small websites for my friend and my dad, I also need a simple photo editor which I can also make small web graphics with. Any suggestions? I was thinking of photoshop elements 3.0 which I found for $35 on dealmac.com, any other suggestions and suggestions for a web editor. Thanks.

Did you buy your Mac brand new, or used? If it is brand new, it may have OS 9 already installed on it. Open you hd and see if there is a folder named "System Folder" with a "9" icon on it. If not, you will need you OS 9 install disks or access to machine with OS 9 already installed.

Congratulations on upgrading! I think Photoshop Elements should be just fine for you - I use it. You may, however, want to wait for Adobe to release version 4.0 for the Mac, which should presumably happen soon. And as for web authoring, I'm still using Golive in Classic, although I intend to upgrade really soon. I'm going to try to pick up the cheapest Golive or Dreamweaver upgrade I can find.

Both Photoshop 5.5 and GoLive should work fine on your new Mac, but you might need to install Mac OS 9 for use in "Classic".

Classic is included with every new machine, on the second install DVD (it even says on the DVD "includes Mac OS 9 for Classic" or some such)
