Uh, never mind. This and a few other display weirdnesses seemed to be the result of my choosing Arabic as the main language in International PrefPane. Whoops.

Check out this weird new behavior that NNW exhibited today:

This happened after I rebooted from a mysterious crash (tried to show the login window via FUS and got a solid blue screen). The above text shows up in the content pane for every item I click in a list, no matter what view or stylesheet I'm using. If I ctrl-click and reload in the contents pane, I get a full web page instead of the usual stripped-down NNW view.

This doesn't happen when I use NNW logged in as another user.

I've tried removing NetNewsWire's .plist file, Application Support folder, and Caches folder, all to no avail. Logging out and back in doesn't help, either.

Another interesting wrinkle: some strings within NetNewsWire are enigmatically appended with "É" and WeatherPop shows an exclamation point instead of the degree sign. So I was thinking maybe I should poke around for some kinda text-rendering preference file that's not app-specific, but I'm getting pretty stumped at this point. So:

Anybody seen this before? Have any ideas I haven't tried?

Thankses.
Y.
