Safari and Gmail Rich Text Formatting don't mix?

The rich formatting tool bar is unseen when gmail is opened in Safari, while it's visible in Firefox.

Am i the only one? or Safari doesn't support Gmail's Rich Test Formatting when composing email?

The Rich Text formatting bar doesn't even appear for me in Safari. *shrug*

I've been using Mail for my Gmail account, so I never really noticed til now.

so it's Safari, not me... guess i'll start to use Firefox when i check Gmail.

From what I understand, Safari didn't before -- but now does -- have the required components to support rich text editing. But it'll take awhile for Google and others to catch on, and they'll have to test for the component to support newer versions of Safari but not older. Can anyone offer more details?
