I downloaded copies of Xkeys (v 1.1.1) from MacUpdate, VersionTracker, and even the developer's site... but when I try to install it I keep getting the following error in Installer: "Open Failed: Couldn't open "install Xkeys.pkg"

I'm running 10.4.2

any ideas on this?

Me too, but it's not really necessary. You can just put the Applescript in the Dock.

Or use one of the other 'hotkey' apps - like QuickSilver.

Is there a way to assign the Fkey at an OS level? I don't particularly want another app running just so I can assign one F key.

I must have downloaded xKeys several times and kept getting the same problem. I ended up using some other program (can't remember right now, at work) to utilize my F8 key.
