Can Front Row take advantage of an Airport Express and play tunes remotely? Or are you limited to playing music through the iMac?

Front Row just drives iTunes. iTunes can output its sound to the Airport Express if you tell it to. So the answer is a definite yes. I've done this successfully with Front Row running on my PowerBook.

Thanks for the answer. It spawns another question. By 'driving iTunes' do you mean that iTunes must be running? Does it also require iPhoto to be running for looking at photos? Quicktime Player to be running to watch videos? Do these apps shut down if you leave Front Row (and they weren't open to begin with)?

Front Row will launch iTunes or iPhoto when it plays the related content. QT is not used directly since the movie playing is done by iTunes (accessing QT indirectly). The apps do not shut down when you leave Front Row. For instance, if you start playing a song in Front Row and then shut it down, iTunes will be running and still playing the selected song.

Yes, Front Row is just a glorified AppleScript controller for iTunes.

You have FrontRow on your Powerbook? Did it require any special workarounds to get it to install off [I presume] your iMac installation discs? Using Pacifist? How do you control it if there is no remote control?
I'm thinking of replacing a desktop Mac (Beige G3 upgraded to the hilt!) and an iMac might be a good alternative, especially if I can get FrontRow also on my PB as a bonus.

If you are going to get a new iMac then that's the best way to get Front Row. Getting it to run on any other Mac requires certain uh, "extra-curricular" activities. If you really want the software it's floating around on the Net. Hit BitTorrent or Google on "Front Row RapidShare".
