Never heard of it. I use the Weather Widget that came with Dashboard for my local weather.

P.S. I was joking, DO NOT INSTALL THAT PROGRAM!!!

ANYONE that says that it isn't spyware/adware has a reason for doing so. I wish someone would install it just so we could all know how much stuff it spreads all over your hard drive.

Ha ha... here are the removal instructions for Windows:

1. Click on START, then select RUN.
2. In the RUN box, type REGEDIT then click OK. This will open your Windows Registry Editor (following ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS, some of these keys will already be removed -- if you do not find a key, please move on to the next step).
3. Click on the plus sign next to the folder named HKEY_CURRENT_USER
4. Click on the plus sign next to the folder named Software
5. Click on the folder, "AWS," to highlight it
6. Press the DELETE key on your keyboard and choose "YES" to delete this folder
7. Click on the plus sign next to the folder named Microsoft
8. Click on the plus sign next to the folder named Windows
9. Click on the plus sign next to the folder named CurrentVersion
10. Click on the folder named Run to highlight it (only the "Run" folder)

In the right-hand pane, look for a line stating "Weather." If you see it, please click on it to highlight it then press the DELETE key on your keyboard and select "YES."

11. Close the Registry Editor

To delete the AWS directory

1. Open "MY COMPUTER" icon on your desktop.
2. Double-click the C drive.
3. Double-click “Program Files” folder to open.
4. Right click on the folder titled "AWS" and select DELETE.

Extra removal instructions for Windows XP

1. Open "MY COMPUTER" icon on your desktop.
2. Double-click the C drive.
3. Double-click on Document and Settings
4. Double-click the folder that has your name next to it (or the name of whomever the machine is registered to)
5. Double-click the “Application Data” folder to open it and delete the folder entitled “WeatherBug”.
7. Restart your computer and the uninstall is complete.

I find it interesting that they constantly defend themselves. It may not be "spyware" by definition, but it sure is adware and annoy-ware to say the least.

I installed the app. All it does is sit in your menu bar with the temp. No weather info is available from the drop down menu. You have to visit their website for anything more..forecast, wind speed, etc.

No spyware has attempted an outbound connection yet. Weatherbug needed to connect to the NWS for the temp, nothing more. The spyware warnings are unfounded at this point, but the app itself is next to worthless.

Thanks... I've heard such horror stories on the Mac side of things... how difficult is it to remove the program?

You mean from the Windows side of things, right? Here are the uninstall directions from WeatherBug directly:

Firefox. ForecastFox. No spies, no glitches, no worries.

Weatherbug: spyware invited into tens of thousands of computers just because it's cool to see what the temperature outside in Las Vegas (if you're not there) is. Avoid like the plague.

OK, it's technically not "spyware." The free version IS, however "adware," which means it WILL pop up ads on your computer. I still say avoid this like the plague.

There is just no reason to install the application with all the reputable applications out there.
