I downloaded Chicken. I want to control my brothers machine. So he doesn't need Chicken on his box does he? He just got a new mac (switched from the PC) and he is having an awful time setting things up. I want to connect to his box and show him some stuff.

Any simple advice for him? Step by step, not too techy.

All he needs to do (assuming he's not behind a router) is to go to System Preferences -> Sharing, turn on Apple Remote Desktop, and when the sheet comes up, check the "VNC Viewers May Control Screen With Password" check box, and he's good to go. If he's got the firewall turned on, he'll also need to set the firewall to let port 5900 through, or he could also turn Remote Login (SSH) on in the Sharing preferences, and you could connect through an SSH tunnel (the latter is what I'd actually recommend if you are concerned about security, as it will cause your password and all communication to be encrypted).

For more information, go a ways down this thread where I gave step-by-step instructions:

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!
