Connecting iPod crashes itunes

I have two iPods - a nano and a video (5G).

the last day or so whenever I connect the iPod video to my mac it mounts fine on the desktop but when I launch itunes it crashes. It was working properly up until a day or so ago when this problem arose. The iPod nano is working fine and doesn't crash itunes.

I have tried resetting the iPod video, removing the iTunes preferences, unplugging all other devices from the computer and a repair disk using disk utility. None of this has rectified the problem.

The next thing I was going to try was doing a hard reset of the iPod but I thought I'd post here first and see if anyone has any other ideas about how to fix the problem.

Hmm. I have a mini that works fine with iTunes, but my new 60GB video seizes the whole machine up if I try to transfer too many tracks at once. Need to hard reset it (the computer, I mean).

Would be nice if someone knew something about this. Anyone else get this?
